Night guards for either the upper or lower teeth can equally protect the teeth against abrasions and wear from Bruxism. Dental professionals recommended that you wear one at a time. Upper night guards are a more popular option because night guards were initially designed for the upper teeth.
For very severe cases of bruxism / teeth grinding an upper and lower guard can be worn together. If you find yourself grinding through a custom grinding mouth guard when wearing just one then you can wear on both upper and lower teeth to reduce the friction as the two custom night guards will "skate" or glide across each other. the night guards will thus last much longer. When wearing on both the upper and lower teeth it is best to wear a 2mm custom night guard.
