Our dental lab can cut a custom night guard shorter, to meet your specific needs. Simply relay this information to us when you return your teeth impression by making a note on the customer contact sheet. You can also email us with your order number after placing the order with your specific request to make the custom dental guard one tooth shorter on each side (do not include wisdom teeth).
Actually, a night guard will still fit great and will often be more comfortable not extending back all the way. Even if it does not cover every molar, the guard will still function effectively by creating a space between the teeth when biting down on the guard. Some customers prefer that the guard does not go all the way to the back of the last molar, as it creates a gag reflex for them. So, you still have protection from grinding, even if the tooth isn't covered by the night guard.
